Nature Day Camp
2024 Registration opens May 4
Explore the natural world through songs, crafts, games, and adventures at Jughandle Creek Farm. We’ll survey the tidepools at Jughandle Beach, make sand candles, exchange potlach gifts, create masks for our totem spirits, build a shelter in the woods, and get to know the plants and the creatures that live in the Jughandle State Preserve. Two-week sessions include an overnight on the second Thursday.
Nature Day Camp is an intimate camp of 14 kids with 2 instructors. The camp meets behind Jughandle Farm and Nature Center and provides a perfect location for hiking and exploring, including walking to Jughandle beach.
Ages

Cost
$250: 1-week camp
$500: 2-week camp
For scholarship possibilities contact Pam Huntley (see below)
Day Camp Hours
10am to 3pm, Monday through Friday. If your child is attending a two-week session, the 2nd Thursday is an overnight. Campers should be dropped off at 3pm on Thursday and picked up at 10am on Friday. We also like to arrange a tidepool exploration day to coincide with the lowest tide of the session. Drop-off and/or pick up times may be scheduled differently on that day.
Covid Protocols
We are always outside! There will be a limit of 14 campers/week. We will follow hand washing, social distancing, and mask protocols.
A more detailed plan for Covid safety will be sent out when we get closer to the start of camp.
Thanks for learning with us as we figure it out!

A Note About the Jughandle Forest Preserve
We will be introducing kids to some of the interesting plants that thrive in the Jughandle Forest Preserve, and talking about the Ecological Staircase and the impact of acidic soils on the Pygmy plant community. Parents will be happy to know that Poison Oak does not grow at Jughandle Farm or in Pygmy Forest soils.
